Privacy Policy
Effective July 4, 2026 · Contact: privacy@perimile.org
PeriMile is a finance tracker for delivery and rideshare drivers. It is built local-first: your earnings, mileage, and vehicle data live on your device, not on our servers. This policy explains exactly what stays on your phone, what leaves it, and why.
- Your financial data (jobs, tips, shifts, vehicles, earnings) is stored only on your device. We do not have a server that receives it. We cannot see it.
- No account is required, and we do not collect your name, email, or phone number.
- Location is used only while you are on a shift, only to measure your miles, and location history stays on your device.
- If you use the optional address-to-address mileage feature, the addresses you type are sent to our mapping provider (Mapbox) to calculate distance. That is the only time trip location data leaves your device, and it is your choice.
- Purchases are processed by Apple and our purchase manager (RevenueCat). We never see your payment details.
Data stored on your device only
- Jobs, payouts, tips, and cash-tip flags
- Shifts, timers, and pause history
- Miles driven, including GPS-derived distances and odometer entries
- Vehicles, fuel economy, gas or electricity prices, and cost settings
- Your hourly target, goals, and app preferences (theme, accent color)
- Exports you generate (IRS mileage report, CSV/JSON backups)
This data never leaves your device unless you export it and share the file yourself. Deleting the app deletes this data. We recommend using the built-in backup export before switching phones, because we hold no copy and cannot recover your data.
Location
- When: GPS runs only during an active shift, including in the background so your miles keep counting while you drive. It stops when you end or pause the shift.
- What for: measuring miles driven and splitting paid vs unpaid ("dead") miles. That is all.
- Where it goes: nowhere. GPS traces are processed and stored on your device. We do not transmit, sell, or share your location.
- You can use PeriMile without GPS entirely by entering miles manually or by odometer.
Data that leaves your device (only if you use these features)
- Address-to-address mileage (optional): if you type a start and end address instead of using GPS, those two addresses are sent to Mapbox (our routing provider) to compute driving distance. Mapbox's privacy policy applies to that request. If you prefer that nothing be sent, use GPS, odometer, or manual miles; those never leave the device.
- Gas price lookup: the app requests regional average gas prices from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). This request includes your selected region, not your precise location.
- Purchases: subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases; RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase receipt, never your financial records or your identity.
What we never do
- We never sell your data. There is nothing to sell; we do not have it.
- We never show ads or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We never require an account, email, or phone number.
- We never transmit your earnings, mileage history, or GPS traces to any server.
Analytics
PeriMile ships without behavioral analytics and without crash reporting. If we ever add privacy-preserving, aggregate analytics (for example, counting how many devices use a feature), it will never include earnings, location, or anything identifying, and this policy will be updated first.
Your choices and rights
- Access / export: You → Settings → Exports gives you every record in CSV or JSON, free.
- Deletion: delete any record in the app, or delete the app to erase everything. Because we hold no copy, deletion on your device is complete.
- Location permission: you can revoke location access in iOS Settings at any time; the app continues to work with manual mileage entry.
Children
PeriMile is for working drivers and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If the policy changes materially (for example, if a sync feature is ever added), we will update this page and note the change in the app before it takes effect.
